As the close season is fast approaching there’s still time to get some last minute fishing in. And judging by the latest reports it could be well worth getting on the water. Here’s an abridged report from our Club Secretary, Steve Esmond:
The river did subside enough to try the fly at the start of the month. I had 2 sewin in 3 casts and Martyn Lewis had one over 4lb on the same night so we are happy to break our duck on the fly. We can put the rods away until next year and hope we get less rain!
September catches Western Cleddau 2012:
Salmon are a good size this month. Adrian Batty has had 5 up to 11lb. Martyn Lewis returned a hen fish over 15lb and Vaughan Thomas returned a cock fish over 15lb. He also had a 12lb fish. Dave Edwards had 2 salmon, Steve Brown also had 2 salmon, and Clive Alibaster had a 12lb salmon. Andrew Jenkins, Paul Nicholas and Steve Esmond had a grilse each.
