NRW Water Releases

Apr 14, 2025

We have recently received this notification from Natural Resources Wales

NRW have instructed Dwr Cymru to undertake a fisheries water bank releases on both the river Tywi and Eastern Cleddau to help juvenile salmon and sea trout (smolts) migrate to the sea.

See attached a briefing document that explains the reason for the releases and the likely effect on flows within both rivers over the planned 5-day period. You have been included because you either represent water users or local landowners.

I would ask you to circulate this brief to your members to raise awareness locally. While the rise in water levels will be relatively small (maximum of 20cm) it will be noticeable, and we do want water users/landowners to be aware locally. We particularly want to inform anyone who is likely to be in or around the river over this period so they are informed.
