The Really Wild Food & Countryside Festival - Sat 4th & Sun 5th Sept 2010

Once again, we'll be exhibiting jointly with Pembrokeshire Rivers Trust at this year's Really Wild Festival held in St Davids on the weekend of the 4th & 5th of September.

Come along for an excellent Festival of everything that's great about the Pembrokeshire countryside and also find out more about the superb angling we have on our doorstep and the conservation work that PAA and PRT engage in.

You can also get a free master-class in the fly and invertebrate life of our rivers!

Pembrokeshire Fish Week 2010

Once again we have taken part in fish week. On the opening day at Milford Haven docks we had a stand with fly-tying demonstrations by Lloyd Evans and information provided by Eric Williams and myself. The stand was busy all day with some one hundred and fifty booklets given away. Resulting, we hope, in an ever growing membership.

On Wed 30th June we had a day for the disabled at the Association's fish platform at Treffgarne Gorge. The day was well attended and we were joined by Mr Roger Pratt of the Environment Agency with their fishing trailer. Coaching was provided by PFAC coaches.

The morning session was attended by children from Tyn-y-Coed, Rosemarket, and Sir Thomas Picton School, Haverfordwest. The afternoon session was attended by children from Sir Thomas Picton School and Portfield School. A total of fourteen in all. Although only one small trout was caught everyone enjoyed the experience.

On Saturday 3rd July our open day meeting at the fish platform at Treffgarne was only supported by one member: very disapointing. He was taken on a guided walk through the gorge by Eric Williams followed by a detailed description of the rest of our fishing and its access points.

This was our worst turn out since we have started running this event. A change of format for next year or even dropping the event may be considered. Suggestions from members would be appreciated.

I would like to thank all the coaches and helpers who gave their time and expertise and the Environment Agency for their help and the PFAC for the loan of the extra rods .
